Lowland began as just an idea to make cool pieces for friends and family, once I started designing and seeing people wearing my clothes, the idea expanded.
I’ve always been drawn to clothing that carries a certain calm. Nothing crazy, just things that feel considered and well made. After studying design and spending time exploring fabrics and construction, I realised I wanted to build something of my own that could reflect how I live and how I dress.
Creating a reliable and considered wardrobe of pieces for all occasions, a name that you can always rely on when looking for a new piece. I wanted to create clothing that felt grounded, timeless, and connected to the kind of days that inspire you to slow down. Long walks, morning coffees, and relaxing night times.
When I designed Postcards from the Lowlands, the first release, the idea was to show what Lowland was about right from the beginning, moments of stillness. Calm and composed, much like the clothing, with the postcard acting as a reference to the Scottish Lowlands.
I always start with silhouette first, whether that's a full body of work or just a specific garment sketching out how the fabric moves and feels allows you to set a boundary to work in, like finishing border of a jigsaw puzzle. Then I work in the details and features of the garment. The process is slow, but that’s what keeps it honest and unique.
As my design journey continues, Lowland will evolve, but the idea will stay the same, to create clothing that feels personal, thoughtful, and real.
